Art Deco green patinated bronze lion by Jeanne Hugues mounted on a black and white veined marble base.
In the past, we been fortunate to acquire her sculptures which to date have all been wild cats, the stylization and cubism are typical of her work. This fantastic bronze lion is very heavy for its size and believe it has been solidly cast.
There is a signature to the inside of the rear leg and stated bronze.
Measurements
ConditionThe cast is very good, the green patination which has hints of brown has some age wear enhancing it's antique look. the marble base is in good condition with minor aging. The signature and bronze to the rear right leg are faded however they are there.
